Salsa Dance the salsa bug has hit Hedland.
And it’s spreading like wildfire.
Award-winning dancer Alissa Cleo arrived in town a month ago from the United States and hasreignited the dancing scene with Thursday night salsa classes.
Worried the town would be a stereotypical masculine miner town, Cleo said she had been blown away by the response from the community.
“Everyone has been pretty open to it so far and it’s really fun because everyone is relatively new and on the same level,” she said. “It’s been cool because a lot of people have been messaging me and calling me. bbc news telling me they’re glad someone’s bringing dance back to town and people have been encouraging me to put on more classes.”
With classes open to any gender, age, skill level and interest level, Cleo said she hoped the interest stayed strong so she could bring other styles to the dance floor.
